Whoo hoo! I've been waiting for someone to put this up ever since reading someone's comment about it somewhere. Maybe here. It's all so vague, but what I KNOW is that the All Sports Band has been high on my list for a while. It is just as bad as I was hoping it would be.

Have I got a story for you. I was working in a record store at the time this came out in San Jose, CA. So we had a lot of A/R guys come in to promote records and were we lucky, one day in came in the hack with the All Sports Band in tow. In full costume! They introduced themselves and all we could think was "Your kidding, right?" Oh my god! They asked us to play the record over the stereo system at work and so we did ( to be nice ). Then one of our customers said quite loudly "Whats this shit? Cant you play something else like Lawrence Welk." They were a bit defeated to say the least.

Michael-John Toste did not raise any funds for his own ministry through the 9/11/-2 Tribute. In fact he took no salary for working 7 months and sought out corporate sponsors to finance the food to feed the orphans,widows,Pentagon families, and rescue workers for the event that would honor those who had lost their lives during this terrorist attack. He continually financed the project from his own salary check as a minister to fund the tribute to bless the orphans and widows, recue workers and remember those who were lost. It is sad that people will right things that are not true and then attempt to destroy the reputation of others with those inaccurate statements that have never been verified, because they cannot be. Never checking the facts with the parties who actually gave of themselves to help others. But that is what has become of journalism in this age of deception and media buzz to make the journalist seem knowledgeable, when he has not taken the time to do a fact check to report the truth.
Michael-John and the other members of the All Sports Band actually had two top 100 hits from that album and also were voted the third most popular band in the nation by American Bandstand Viewers, beside
the Go Go's and Rick Springfield in the early 80's. The band didn't like the costumes either, but were all very accomplished musicians and loved making music. There are fans to this day that still play the All Sports Band album and enjoy the music. They have posted their comments on the web as proof. Look it up and you will find it, if you care to search, which most journalists and writers don't anymore, becoming more like the tabloids than real integrity filled writers who care. The article that was written about Michael-John in the press had most of its facts wrong--yet you used that as your facts sheet. You actually used comments from a disgruntled volunteer from the 9/11/02 tribute that was not in support at that time of Michael-John being a minister. She later apologized for her comments and admitted that they were based on gossip from another women in the project, not fact. She has retracted her statement in writing since.

Michael-Johns ministry was never promoted at the event at all, and Michael-John never took one cent for himself or the ministry, only gave of his own money to help finance the tribute and his time for 7 months.

Now, if you are a writer with true integrity, you will correct your article, and do what is right, speaking the truth, instead of other peoples incorrect statements that are not based on facts, nor the truth of what really happened.
The orphans and widows were so happy someone cared for them and took the time to remember their family members that died during this terrorist attack. They thanked Michael-John personally and the volunteers for caring and making a difference in their lives. Gods heart was in the event and that is why it was successful.

Michael-John is not a self-proclaimed prophet, but a minister who is studied in the prophetic ministry and has been ordained by a Bishop and proclaimed by those who are able to discern spiritual things. This does not make him self-proclaimed at all as you stated, but ordained and proclaimed by those in authority within the church of Jesus Christ.
These are the facts that I hope you are truthful enough to publish before your readers so they are not duped by the lack of facts. Michael-John has a Bishop over his church and has been serving God for many years -- giving his heart to a very worthy causes, mostly the saving of souls and bringing them to the truth for Gods glory.

He is now an ordained minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and loves the LORD.He is still involved with music and preparing three new albums. An instrumental album featuring piano, and a Christian and pop album. It is not good to speak against Gods ministers or to speak things that are not true about people. Hope you correct your errors in your article in order that those who read would not be led astray with information that is not true.

Michael-John Toste is a charlatan and a tool. His "ministry" consists of a sleazy bear-baiting operation behind an abandoned strip mall in Manchester, Hew Hampshire. His "donations" go mainly for stale candy bars for his wife Cindy and his other wife (also his sister) Mary Anne.    

Michael-John Toste's ministry is not located in Manchester, New Hampshire, You didn't even spell the location correctly, I guess it is only natural that you would get all the information wrong about this minister of Jesus Christ. He is not married as you stated, nor has he been before. Everything you wrote was a lie.

The story anonymous told about the ASB coming into his record store in full costume reminds me of why I wrote this article in the first place. So glad I re-read that comment. Thank you.

I've owned, and tormented my friends with this album since 1990. How did I get this album? I was at a used record store in Baltimore, and this was part of a large stack of albums I was buying. When I went to get my money, I was short $5 and was about to put the ASB back, but the guy behind the counter got agitated.

"No, just take it." he told me.
"But I don't feel comfortable not paying at this store." I replied.
The man then became adamant "You take this record and you NEVER bring it back here!"
"Are you kicking me out?"
"No, no! Come back any time you want, just do not ever bring that back here."

If I were a more superstitious man I would have thought the record cursed, but I understood what he meant when I played it later.    

It is important to note that the All Sports Band first released a white cover copy for promotion to radio stations and was one of the most added radio station bands of that year, with radio play matching Ozzy Osborne and other top Rock Bands. They had two top 100 Billboard Hits, and were voted the third most popular band of 1983 by American Bandstand Viewers, after Rick Springfield and the Go Go's.
Once the album was released and the concept cover was released, the radio play diminished because the image that the manager created did not interest people and they did not feel it was cool. The music had great popularity with the White Album promo cover, but the concept was not a winner with the image. Also, most concert tours were canceled because of a stalled economy and poor record sales. All bands suffered pour concert attendance, even the major Rock bands of the time. Record companies were going under and many sharing offices because the music industry as a whole was doing so badly. The All Sports Band were seen by over 50 million people in 35 countries. Record store personal as some of these stories share, were more into image and didn't like the group because of the cover artwork. The music was original, and the musicians in the band were all accomplished and were dynamic live performers. The keyboardist has been with Rod Stewart since the All Sports Band for over 18 years, the drummer has been with major rock groups such as Joan Jett, and other popular bands, Michael-John Toste has since worked with Bobby Kimball, the lead vocalist of Toto and Deniece Williams a 5-time Grammy Award winner for his new album slated to be released later in 2011 and the guitarist and bass player are all fine musicians who play life and record in the music industry with great credits as well. Most of those commenting on this group don't know much or little about the band and are speaking out of ignorance, which is obvious by their lack of factual evidence regarding what the band actually accomplished and the fan club and fans of the band that still exist to this day.

I found your inaccurate report on Michael-John Toste silly. You don't know all the facts surrounding the September 11, 2002 tribute in Washington, DC. I was there. Nobody tried to raise money for Mr. Toste's ministry. Nobody made a cent off the project. The Pentagon families and rescue workers were the main focus. It was to give the surviving Pentagon family members something good to remember. There is a lot you need to learn about reporting. May I suggest you take a journalism course at a college or university to learn the trade?    

I know Michael John from his ministry that I attended for two years. I've never heard of you. I can attest for Michael John's character, integrity, and commitment to Jesus Christ and gift in the prophetic. Moreover I've witnessed his dealing with people with grace, love, understanding and kindness. I saw how he took care of his weak and aging father who he often brought to his ministry. He didn't just pack him off to a home for the elderly, but bore the burden. He would have food to feed people every week after the ministry session because he wanted people to have community and fellowship as well as knowing that some might be hungry. He consistently dealt with people with godly kindness and charity irrespective of their socio-economic status, and trust me, in the "Silicon Valley" (San Jose, CA and Bay Area) there are people who were struggling as well as those who were "loaded" all mixed in together, yet Michael John didn't seperate them.
I can attest that he prophesied over me many times and was accurate. Some of those prophecies have come to pass, some are pending. Most of his prophecies deals with the area of the heart and heart issues and are not necessarily event forecasting though some are. This is the case and many others can attest to.
I also attended the event in D.C. at the DAR Hall and it was a huge success and the hall was full. He treated the families of the 911 victims that had members that had died on that horrific day to a whole day of activities and shuttled them to each location in tour busses instead of them having to do it on their own; once again a testament of how MJ cares for people and sees it through. You say he did it for his personal gain, but the one I see motivated by personal gain is the one who would write a blog post slandering a minister of God with a meager amount information that you scrounged up and spun off with your own sinster twisted view because those are the "glasses" that you view the world through. You would do well to:

1) Retract your slander and ask God for forgiveness.
2) Appologize to the people you have deceived as well as Michael John and seek their forgiveness.
3) Find God and establish a personal relationship with Him through repenting of your sin and acknolodging Jesus Christ.
4) Find a spirit filled church and make a contribution.
5) Help to build and quit tearing down.
6) Attend Michael John's ministry. You need it!    

The All Sports Band was actually offered another record deal just a few years ago to re-release their debut album with a new fresh digital mix and place a new cover on it, from the photo session of their new look which would have been released on their second album. The popular record label that features rock n roll bands and musicians from the past said the All Sports Band still had fans all over the world. The record label also wanted to released unreleased songs that were going to be placed on their second album which had a harder rock edge and a new harder look as well to the band.
Their albums were bootlegged all over Japan and even Germany where they were top of the charts. They performed in New York on Nicholodean television channel which was filmed at the Old Ed Sullivan Stage and building where the Beatles first debuted in the United States. The make-up man that prepared them for television was the same guy who did the make-up for the Beatles when they performed on Ed Sullivan's show many years prior. A little history with the All Sports Band.    

The All Sports Band, as well as every other popular and mega super group of the 80s went through the same extreme economic recession of the 1980s, which Wikipedia and the New York Times called the great recession, which is listed as even greater than 911s recession throughout the past 12 years that the US has still not recovered from. Major bands & top recording artists were all canceling their tours and deeply affected financially by the dramatic decrease in record sales. However, the All Sports Band was enjoying greater record play than Ozzy Ozbourne's group with their new album released at the same time as the All Sports Band during this dark economic recession. The All Sports Band first released a white album previewing their hottest songs contained within their debut album and radio play was enormous during that period. The New York Times called this terrible recession a greater recession than the one we currently experienced after the 911 terrorist attack. WEA,(Warner, Electra, Atlantic Records), were hit so hard by the decrease in record sales that they closed most of their record label offices and only shared Warner Brothers offices for all of their record labels. Many music industry insiders and executives predicted the music industry might not recover ever again to its former glory. That was how tough those years were for the music industry and all the groups and recording artists during the 80s. So, when people blog comments as some have above about poor record sales, they should take the facts from this period of time into consideration, and mention that all the super groups of the 80s were affected dramatically as was the entire music and entertainment industry that lost hundreds of millions of dollars during that great recession period of time.    

Pastor Michael John is doing amazing work helping people. Please consider removing this Blog.

Enough said...this guy is another "man of god" trying to be noticed by latching on to solemn tributes as a means to gain attention. (by the way, there is no imaginary man in the sky watching everything and there sure isn't a magical heaven up in the clouds)    

This gentleman who just posted his comments... has obviously revealed (in his own words) that he doesn't believe in God at all, even though a majority of all civilization does and has for thousands of years. Therefore, such an un-spiritual perspective cannot be trusted to be truly objective with their personal assessment of someone else's character/motives it their charity work, which is often spiritually motivated in the desire to help others. Only God knows the truth about any individuals hearts and motives when they offer their time to give to charities and wish to help others in distress or need. Surely each one who gives to the less fortunate, gain within themselves something valuable in their caring and find it personally satisfying. It seems if an individual wishes to judge one, they would have to judge all individuals in their charity work in the entertainment business and other lines of work as well. And that is obviously a great waste of time to the person who does so, and those who listen to them. It is better to simply do the charity work personally then to waste ones time judging others for their generosity toward the less fortunate. If this gentleman who posted his comments did a proper study of the music industry, he would quickly discover that most musicians within the entertainment industry donate their talents & time when they are able and/ or the need arises to extend themselves generously in offering their services to helping what they've identified to be worthy causes which often also touch their hearts personally. Our world is a better place because of the efforts of those who have used their God given gifts to help others who have suffered and are less fortunate through many difficult situations that happen to take place in life, such as the 911 victims of that horrible tragedy that took place in 2001. Who wouldn't want to help those and many others who suffer at the hands of such hate in this world.    

If you are right you don't need a defense but if you are wrong you need a defense! Michael-John doesn't need a defense! Carry on........
